Fanny and Jessy S/S 2012 video shoot

Last friday i went with Fanny and Jessy to a studio in Finsbury Park while their S/S 2012 collection was shot to be made into a film.


the concept behind the theme for the film is fantastic and i can't wait for you to see it, keep the volume on when you watch it!


I've never seen a film shot for fashion and so it was really interesting for me to watch the whole event evolve. 


I was able to take photos on the day and i have a few snapshots for you to peak at now!

Mugler Spring/Summer 2012

 And onto Paris starting with Mugler, oh so exquisite.

oh the hidden pattern cutting, I LOVE it! It's so clever, and it's just full of layers!

I love the colours, in particular i really like the use of black in a spring/summer collection. I feel that there are colours that frowned upon in spring/summer but i don't agree with it, so it's great to see some black here.

The collection for me is about the little details  that you have to look closely at. the subtle layering and hidden seams. The way parts of the garment are kept up, but you don't see how. I think it's a great collection and it's one of my favourites that i've seen so far.

Marni Spring/Summer 2012

Candy Candy everywhere

The panelling on the skirt is divine.

Marni have again done so well. I love the candy colours at the beginning of the collection and the sheer skirts underneath the garments. I think i will have to purchase a few for next summer. 

I love the prints, it reminds me of 60's decor and the embellishment is so yummy. 

All the looks are simplistic but yet they are busy with the prints, embellishment and layering. 

Milan Fashion Week has exceeded expectations and it has done it so so well. I'm sad to see it over, but onto Paris we go. 

Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2012

Raf Simons has given us another beautiful collection of white, shirted garments. I love the tiered and layering look to the look above. 

i really like the jacket with the buttons from the dress that keeps them fastened together. i feel the cold easily so it's nice to have a way to keep the jacket close to the body but it also allows the garment underneath to be seen. I bet we'll see this look a lot when the collection is put into stores. 

Finally, i love the length and whole look of the outfit above. It is so appealing to try on, it appears to be light and breezy. 

When i first saw the collection it reminded me of nurses outfits, especially Florence Nightingale but as it went on it became different yet again. There is colour in the collection but it doesn't feature as much as it usually does but it works well. It is also lovely to see print, but i do worry that it takes the eye away from the pattern cutting.

The theme i'm seeing in a lot of the fashion shows this season, especially from Italy is the white crisp shirt but each time it is different and modern and exciting. It's great to see it being brought back as it's a piece that remains timelessly classic.

Piazze Sempione Spring/Summer 2012

The layer is exceptional and i love the use of the colour white, and off whites. They have taken the simple white shirt and turned it into something new and innovative. 

I'm not usually one to favour the white shirt, but what is coming out from each fashion week has excited me in terms of the shirt.

Again pleating is being featured but i like that they have different volumes of it in the skirt. And the pairing with the tunic like leather top works really well.  The Leather looks so soft and comfortable, and so wearable. It's definitely on my wish list. 

This last look for me sums up the entire collection. It's exciting, innovative, and brings a unique and fresh  use of layering and pleating to the table. 

Prada - Spring/Summer 2012 MFW

Oh Prada, How i do love the jackets. The cut of the front panels is divine, as are the prints and colours. I especially love the bandeau styled tops, with a flash of skin and then the just above knee-lenth skirts all underneath the oversized coats. 

This skirt is amazing, the car on the front is what i think is a leather patch sewn onto the skirt.

I love she has done with this skirt, i think it's latex, or fake leather. But it could be neither, if you know can you let me know what it is! I love the pleating with it, it's nice to see it being used with such a daring fabric. 

I find Milanese fashion classic, but i love that Miuccia Prada has incorporated these fantastic fabrics and used them in a classic way. 

Sass & Bide spring/Summer 2012

Sass & Bide are an Australian design duo who are based in Sydney. I don't often hear of Australian designers, especially who show in London, Milan, New York and Paris. So it is a nice addition to the lineup. I've been thinking about going out to Australia to intern in the Fashion industry over there, and seeing what this design duo have to show has convinced me further that it is a good venture. I think Australian designers have a lot to offer but they don't often get the chance to show in Europe or America. I'm hoping to follow more Australian designers and promote their work. 

I love the fresh colours and bold prints of Sass & Bide. Their use of contrasting fabrics is lovely, and the angular shapes created with their garments is a welcomed change to the usual florally and floaty themes we usually find in spring/summer collections.

I like how there is a change in atmosphere further along in the collection. You can still see the same theme of angles, but Sass & Bide have managed to steer it in a different direction to create an almost new collection. With the garment above, you can see the extent of their great use of pattern cutting . I just want to go up close to the garment and see how it's been pattern cut and constructed to create those folds!

As well as their garments, I've also fallen in love with their accessories. Their jewellery is stunning, and this purse! I want one immediately. I'd love to see how it opens and how many belongings i can fit in it! They're perfect to compliment the garments and complete the looks.

Christopher Kane Spring/summer 2012

Never mind the exquisite foiled fabrics of this collection, it is the delicate pattern cutting that has me smiling in awe. 

This particular garment with the folding of the fabric reminds me of John Galliano for Dior couture spring 2007 with the elegant use of origami. 

Kane has mixed it with a beautiful use of laser cutting. 

My favourite piece from the whole collection is this understated shirt. It's clean, crisp, classic but it's also contemporary. There are a few other shirts in this collection with similar quirks but they are all their own. It's definitely on my wish list for next summer! 

Blitz. All things Vintage.

And so finally, in London, a department store stocking only all things vintage has opened up.
This rather excites me as i'm very much loving all things vintage at the moment. In particular my recent trip to Perth in Australia has encouraged my love of vintage as i picked up some great vintage garments over there. A fab 1980's burgundy jumpsuit with a lovely placement print on the shoulder.

a 1940's fur cape, and i'm not usually a fan of fur, but i found it a charity shop(salvos) and i thought if i don't get it someone else will who won't appreciate the vintage and delicate condition it's in. the lining is gorgeous and the shoulders are perfect, sadly no photo currently.

 i also found a white viscose knee length skirt, not quite mid but it's good enough for me, and it has a nautical feel about it. it looks great with black tights and 1970's vintage burgundy boots. i'm wearing it with pumps here as the weather was a bit too warm for boots! i'm also accessorising it all with my niece. we went to a zoo in perth for the day and saw all types of animals and we were able to get up and close with kangaroo's as you can see and also koalas!

and finally my grumpy niece in a t-shirt i bought her. i think it's so cute, it's meant to be a monster jaw open, hence why i'm also motioning a claw but i don't think my niece was overly impressed! I'm rocking the skirt with a Kurt Cobain t-shirt and a sparkly blazer.


All the items i picked up were from Fremantle, just below Perth but i hear Perth has a good number of vintage shops. As well as the fur cape in salvos i also picked up a 90's dress, very grunge, a long skirt and 60's styled dress. I also managed to pick up a pleated black mid length chiffon skirt and a pair of wedges.





But back to Blitz. i can't wait to get down there, they say it's great for 70's and 80's, but i bet there is something for everyone there. photos from their press party certainly show this.

I really am so excited about this. Fashion is about new and contemporary, but it is also about appreciating the contemporary garments of the past and this shops allows you to on a larger scale.
