Francesco Scognamiglio AW2012-13

This collection leaves me feeling conflicted. There are moments that really please me but there are also moments that leave me disappointed. The Monochrome shirts for example have been seen a lot in New York, London and now Milan during the past weeks on the runways, however i've also been seeing them in high street stores since before the new year. Is this forward fashion or are we stuck in a monochrome loop? Albeit the latter images are featuring some sort of monochrome shirts, I think they work well as compositions. Two of the shirts have a slight wild west feeling to them, and the print that Scognamiglio has used takes the shirts out of the standard monochrome loop.

I've also had somewhat of a pull towards retro styled shirts and fabrics recently, and so I do love the metallic green trousers with the shirts.

Looking at the garments at the beginning of the collection we have a different feeling. It is strong, it is contemporary and the oversized coats are beautiful. I also admire the leather skirts with the raw edges and just a flash of the legs as the model walks down the runway.

There are some looks within collection that almost hold it back from progressing forward, however there are also looks and garments that balance the collection out to being forward thinking and contemporary. The fabrics are there, and the silhouettes are partially there, but i think the collection needs just a few more tweaks for it to be one of my favourites from Milan this season.
